I am a documentary photographer and visual artist, born and raised in Texas, working as the Deputy Director of Visuals at the San Antonio Express-News. I previously managed the photo desks for The Yakima Herald-Republic and The Victoria Advocate and have worked as a freelance photographer and photo editor for clients like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Cascade PBS and more.
I obtained my MA in Journalism and BA in Italian and Art History, both from the University of Texas at Austin. I also served as a graduate teaching assistant, guiding students through the fundamentals of photography and photojournalism.
With a foundation in black-and-white 35mm film photography and darkroom printing, I also enjoy experimenting with the limits of film and alternative photographic processes. I also dabble in creating surrealistic analog collages.
I have a keen interest in anthropology and psychology with an excitement for universal stories that document the human condition. I strongly believe that community-oriented visual storytelling can foster connection among neighbors.
